Dr. Vittorio Sambri was awarded a degree in Medicine from the University of Bologna and a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Genoa. He presently holds a position of Associate Professor of Medical Microbiology and Head of the Laboratory of the Regional Reference Centre for Emerging Infections at the University of Bologna and Director of the Unit of Microbiology at the Great Romagna Hub Laboratory, one of the largest public microbiology laboratories in Europe. Dr Sambri’s work has resulted in more than 225 scientific publications in international journals.

Dr. Woc-Colburn received her MD from Universidad Francisco Marroquín, followed by an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Illinois, Chicago and a fellowship in Infectious Disease and HIV Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Woc-Colburn is currently an Associate Professor, Division of Infectious Diseases at Emory University School of Medicine and has a wide range of interests including tropical medicine, HIV, mycosis, and medical education. Her passion is to teach the next generation of health workers about infectious diseases topics.

Dr. Buchan received his PhD in Microbiology from the University of Iowa and was a postdoctoral fellow of Clinical Microbiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Buchan is currently a Professor of Pathology and the Director for Clinical Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostics at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He serves as Principal Investigator for numerous clinical trials involving new diagnostic assays for the identification of bacterial, viral and fungal pathogens and is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Clinical Microbiology and the American Journal for Clinical Pathology.
