Multiplex molecular assays can address overlapping infectious disease symptoms and the need for definitive diagnosis and treatment. While they are frequently more rapid, sensitive, and specific than conventional methods, their utility among different patient groups and clinical locations is a topic of ongoing discussion. In this accredited symposium, three global experts in molecular infectious disease diagnostics will discuss advanced molecular testing options, emerging challenges, special populations, and utilization of these assays to improve diagnostic stewardship.
